How to Choose the Best FPS Gaming Mouse 2022 – Buying Guide
Well, before we look at the check-list maybe we should recollect what FPS is. FPS stands for First Person Shooters. It is a kind of a video game that involves guns and another weapon-based battle from a first-person perspective. Simply, the one who plays the game can literally experience the action through the eyes of the warrior.
It all started way back in the immediate ’90s with games like Tom Clancy’s rainbow six, Battlefield, and Goldeneye. But today, the fad towards this genre has skyrocketed and it has become one of the big competitive games every
Specifications Checklist:
No matter how many say that winning and losing is a part of the game, deep inside, we all want to win. FPS games are meant to be competitive and what is the point in playing a competitive game if winning does not matter. And you might already know that a second delay could change the entire game upside down. Isn’t it? Thus, a gaming mouse enters the picture to let you have the fun to the core.
â—Ź Purpose:
The very first you need to understand yourself is the purpose of a gaming mouse and what you will use it for. If you specifically use your PC for genres like FPS, RPGs, RTS, you should definitely give a shot for a gaming mouse. The key difference between a normal mouse and an FPS gaming mouse is it possesses higher sensitivity precision, tracking, cursor sleekness, DPI, and customizable buttons.
â—Ź Type of sensor:
Type of sensor: We all have studied in school that mouse acts as a translator between you and the computer.
And it couldn’t be true. The mouse tells the computer to process the commands and the computer works accordingly. So, here we have two types, namely laser sensor mouse and optical sensor mouse.
Although it seems like technical jargon the difference between these two is the type of technology, they use to track the movements of the mouse.
The optical mouse has an integrated LED light as a light source. It can track reliably enough for gaming purpose. The resolution is about 3000 DPI.
The laser sensor mouse uses a laser for illumination. It has high accuracy in terms of tracking more dots per inch and thus, they are highly sensitive. The resolution is about 6000 DPI.
â—Ź Dots Per Inch (DPI):
Candidly speaking, DPI measures the sensitivity of the mouse. It grabs the number of pixels your screen cursor moves per inch of movement of the mouse. It is widely known that the higher the DPI the better the game. But it is not true in all cases. It is more about your screen size, the game you are playing, and of course how you are playing (user style).
If you are a player who prefers to move the mouse a small distance that covers one corner to the other, you should consider mouses with higher sensitivity, i.e., high DPI. Today’s gaming mice come with a personalized DPI setting option where the user can adjust DPI according to his/her preference.
â—Ź Determine your grip style:
Yes! The type of mouse grip determines the weight and shape of a mouse that you feel most comfortable. Basically, there are three types of grip exist such as claw, palm, and finger grip.
As the name speaks, in claw grip, you let settle your whole onto the mouse. As a result, it makes a claw-like shape. This grip gives a stabilized position even during rapid clicking.
The palm grip style has taken 50% of the market to its side as it is comfortable, relaxed, and gives precise glide control.
The fingertip mouse is extremely rapid and thus make minimal contact between the hand and the mouse.
â—Ź Lift-off Distance:
It is the distance you have to lift your mouse from the table for it to stop reading or registering movements.

This article is really accurate, Last week I brought this Steelseries Rival 600 and to be honest I really love it and I actually brought it after I saw your review. Your review is really accurate to the mouse and I am really grateful. Big thanks from the US and I am glad I saw this article, that way I can finally be better in some Fps games
Best FPS gaming mouse ? I don’t know what kind of FPS and your level.. Most of the CS:GO players (and probably valorant now) go for Zowie or eventually the steelserie.
I’m a huge FPS player (LEM), I got 3 mouses :
– Zowie EC2-A : Very confortable, light, however the wheel mouse was broken after 1 year.
– Logitech G502 : Pretty heavy, not the most confortable. After an intense day of gaming, you might feel some pain on your hand. (I will sell it)
– Glorious Model D : I took it, because the shape was kind of similar to Zowie and very light (around 68g). Unfortunately DPI button was broken after 1 week (returned).
For a good FPS mouse, you need 400/800dpi, light mouse, and feeling confortable.
There is plenty of website that show the hardware config of some esport players, I don’t believe any one of them got this logitech lol
I might replace my defective glorious model d mouse by a DeathAdder (for testing)
It’s all subjective. Although most gamers like 800dpi,myself and others prefer 1200,and sensitivity set to 45-48.
That being said, a good pro gamer gets used to whatever mouse you get, after some time – so when you switch to a different one, there is a period of having to adjust and get comfortable. In the end, you will prefer something that fits your own grip and lasts. That’s the problem with most of these they crap out too quickly. We need things made outside of China with better production quality.
